Film začíná v okamžiku, kdy je mladý, nevzhledný roční Phar Lap vyložen z lodi, kde na něj nedočkavě čeká jeho nový majitel - trenér Harry Telford. Ten vkládá do Phar Lapa velké naděje - hlavně díky jeho původu. Ovšem Phar Lap se ukazuje jako neuvěřitelně liný, k tomu přerostlý kůň a nikdo mu nevěří. Ovšem Harry je přesvědčen, že tento kůň bude vyhrávat a rozhodně se z něho lenost dostat. Zde se dostává do popředí Tomy Woodcock, kterého hned od počátku Phar Lap neuvěřitelně zbožňuje a nikoho jiného do svého boxu nechce pustit. Od chvíle, kdy se o něho začne starat Tomy, začne Phar Lap doopravdy závodit. Jak jde čas, je Phar Lap nazván neporazitelným, ovšem tím stoupá i nenávist ostatních lidí k tomuto vyjímečnému koni. A tak se to stane - poprvé v historii je na koně spáchán atentán, který je ovšem díky pohotovému zásahu Tomyho odražen a mine se účinkem. Po tomto útoku jsou Phar Lap i jeho žokej pečlivě uschováni až do dne konání se největšího dostihu Austrálie - Melbourne Cupu. Tento dostih Phar Lap vyhraje. Ovšem poté nastávají Phar Lapovi i jeho ošetřovateli a trenérovi krušné chvíle - Phar Lap musí kvůli dostihovému spolku, který ho vidí jako nepřítele, nosit stále větší váhu (handicap) až to dojde k neúnosné hranici a Phar Lap odjede závodit jinam. Tady se mu stává trenérem jeho ošetřovatel Tomy, protože Harry odmítá opustit své koně v Austrálii. Phar Lap je i zde úspěšný a to i přes zranění, které utrpí. Dokáže vyhrát nejlepší dostihy a porazit tak nejlepší koně Ameriky. Ovšem Phar Lap asi čtrnáct dní po posledním úspěšném dostihu umírá - jistě tahle posední scéna dojme nejednoho milovníka koní... Brečící Tomy objímá umírajícího Phar Lapa...

Moje hodnocení: Je to prostě skvělí film, moc pěkně udělanej a úžasnej... Jsou tam skvělí scény (zvlášť třeba ta, kdy Phar Lap běží v moři, či cválá po pláži po boku Tomyho jedoucího na poníkovi). Sice jsem tenhle film neviděla celý, ale i ta polovina se mi moc líbila...
